Duke |
|
2nd August 1986 - 26th December 1999 |
|
. |
|
Officially the first Stafford of the
“Seighford” prefix.
|
|
. |
|
Fighting Lung Cancer and the
onset of Respiratory Failure
in true
Stafford
stoic
style, Duke was allowed to
pass with his dignity. |
|
|

|
He,
together with Fiona, created their own
personal circle of fame, with Duke
becoming the first male
Stafford
in
Victoria
to achieve the CDX
(Companion Dog Excellent) title in
Obedience, with Fiona as his handler,
who he loved passionately.

They attended many public
exhibitions, including
several Hastings Day Parades
on the
Mornington
Peninsula
, doing a wealth of good for the public image of
the breed. Duke’s version of
the Flyball was the one
thing that really impressed
the crowds though and them
all, without a single
exception, cheering for
more. After all, why push
the pedal if you know where
the ball is already, it is
far simpler to just grab the
ball from its holder then
make it fly in the air!

|
At just over 13 years, we thought he was
bullet proof, especially with his mother
still going strong at over 15, and it
came so quickly because he hid the pain
from us for so long. His bravery in the
final days, not letting us know of his
illness until he could hide it no more,
will be one of our lasting memories of
him. |
|
. |
|
At least the dogs in the next world will
know he taught the easiest way to do
Flyball! |
